The longer I live – the more it seems to me that the decisions we make – really boil down to how we behave in a given situation …
These situations are the sum of many other events over which we usually have little influence.

I mean, what attitude we adopt towards a given situation. The rest really depends on us to a very small extent – much less than we think ….
I come to such conclusions for the moment – after 50 years of my life.

It’s all mysterious ….
I have been asking myself these types of questions for as long as I can remember. Since childhood. I also try to answer them.

The view that everything that happens is the result of previous events is defined by philosophy as determinism. I largely agree with this, but as I explained – not completely.

I like to compare my life to sailing on a yacht.
So using this comparison – I can say that if you follow a course – don’t change it too abruptly. It can be done, but perform the maneuver gently … with the feeling of your yacht. Otherwise, you risk overturning the unit. This risk is greater – the greater the speed at which you are moving.

So respect the eternal laws of nature. They are unchanging.

Take what is happening – gently. Do what you can – the best you can. This is all you can do. Don’t bend reality to yourself. Tune yourself to reality. I think that’s the essence of being happy.

In one of my favorite movies – „Forrest Gump” there is a theme of a feather carried by the wind. It symbolizes our life. There is not that much difference between sailing and a feather drifting in the wind.

Forrest is a mentally disabled man whose life has been very hard. However, he finds himself in everything that happens to him and tries to be a good person. His most distinguishing feature is that he cares about other people more than himself. It is totally amazing. He cares about the realization of their dreams, their desires and needs. He wants nothing for himself.
When asked when he leaves the army if he has a plan for his life, he doesn’t know what to say. He lives for others. This question makes no sense to him.

Interestingly, the subsequent story shows that life rewards him for this attitude many times. He did not care for it at all, and he is rather surprised by it.

If someone is important to him, he is even ready to die for him.
Forrest does not care about his property, about his position in society (which deleted him anyway). His otherness is so great that it might seem that he is inevitably doomed to failure and rejection in life.

Meanwhile, it is quite the opposite. Unexpectedly – life saves him. Unexpectedly gives him a lot. It gives him the love and gratitude of the people he meets on his way.

I think there is a deep mystery in all of this, which I would summarize with the words „Take care of others selflessly. You will see that life will also take care of you. It will not forget about you in difficult times”.

Somehow, I come back to that final scene of the film quite often, in which a feather is raised into the sky.

„Forrest Gump entertains and touches us” – I wrote in 1995, after we saw that film for the first time – in the summer cinema, in Siemianowice Śląskie.

It’s an amazing movie …

What will 2022 bring us?
It will bring different things. It is important how we react to them.
What kind of people we will turn out to be.

This attitude brings me peace of mind and a sense of harmony ….

Czym dłużej żyję – tym bardziej mi się wydaje, że decyzje jakie podejmujemy – tak naprawdę sprowadzają się do tego, jak  zachowamy się w danej sytuacji….
Te sytuacje są sumą wielu innych zdarzeń, na które najczęściej nie mamy wielkiego wpływu.

Mam na myśli to, jaką wobec danej sytuacji przyjmiemy postawę. Cała reszta zależy od nas tak naprawdę w bardzo niewielkim stopniu – znacznie mniejszym, niż nam się wydaje….
Do takich wniosków dochodzę na tę chwilę – po tych 50 latach życia.

Tajemnicze to wszystko ….
Tego typu pytania zadaję sobie od kiedy pamiętam. Od dzieciństwa. Próbuję też sobie na nie odpowiadać.

Pogląd, mówiący o tym, że wszystko, co się wydarza – jest wynikiem zdarzeń wcześniejszych – filozofia określa mianem determinizmu. W dużej mierze zgadzam się z nim, ale jak wyjaśniłem – nie całkowicie.

Lubię porównywać życie do żeglugi jachtem.
Używając więc tego porównania – mogę powiedzieć, że jeżeli płyniesz danym kursem – nie zmieniaj go zbyt gwałtownie. Da się to zrobić, ale wykonaj taki manewr łagodnie,…z wyczuciem swojego jachtu. Inaczej ryzykujesz wywrócenie jednostki. To ryzyko jest tym większe – im większa jest prędkość, z jaką się poruszasz.

Respektuj więc odwieczne prawa natury. One są niezmienne.

Przyjmuj to co się dzieje – łagodnie. Zrób to, co jesteś w stanie – najlepiej jak możesz. Tyle właśnie możesz zrobić. Nie naginaj rzeczywistości do siebie. Dostrój siebie do rzeczywistości. Myślę, że w tym leży istota bycia szczęśliwym.

W jednym z moich ulubionych filmów – „Forrest Gump” pojawia się motyw niesionego podmuchem wiatru piórka. Symbolizuje nasze życie. Pomiędzy żeglugą a dryfującym na wietrze piórkiem – nie ma aż tak dużej różnicy.

Forrest jest niepełnosprawnym umysłowo mężczyzną, którego życie doświadczyło bardzo ciężko. On jednak odnajduje się w tym wszystkim co go spotyka i stara się być dobrym człowiekiem. Jego najbardziej charakterystyczną cechą jest to, że dba o innych ludzi bardziej niż o siebie samego.  To zupełnie niezwykłe. Zależy mu na realizacji ich marzeń, ich pragnień i potrzeb. Dla siebie nie chce niczego.
Zapytany przy wyjściu z wojska o to, czy ma jakiś plan na swoje życie – nie wie, co odpowiedzieć. On żyje dla innych. To pytanie nie ma dla niego sensu.

Co ciekawe, dalsza historia pokazuje, że życie wynagradza mu tę postawę wielokrotnie. Zupełnie o to nie zabiegał i jest tym raczej zadziwiony.

Jeśli ktoś jest dla niego ważny – jest gotowy za niego nawet umrzeć.
Forrest nie dba o swój stan posiadania, o pozycję w społeczeństwie (które i tak go skreśliło). Jego odmienność jest tak wielka, że mogłoby się zdawać, że jest skazany nieuchronnie na życiową porażkę i odrzucenie.

Tymczasem jest zupełnie odwrotnie. Niespodziewanie – życie go ratuje. Niespodziewanie daje mu wiele. Daje mu to w postaci miłości i wdzięczności ludzi, których spotyka na swojej drodze.

Jest w tym wszystkim myślę głęboka tajemnica, którą podsumowałbym słowami „Dbaj bezinteresownie o innych. Zobaczysz, że życie zatroszczy się i o Ciebie. Nie zapomni o Tobie w trudnych chwilach”.

Jakimś cudem dość często wracam do tej końcowej sceny filmu, w której  piórko unosi się w niebo.

„Bawi i wzrusza nas Forrest Gump” – napisałem w 1995r, po tym jak zobaczyliśmy go po raz pierwszy, w kinie letnim w Siemianowicach Śląskich.

To niezwykły film….

Co nam przyniesie rok 2022 ?
Przyniesie różne rzeczy. Ważne jest to, jak je przyjmiemy.
Jakimi okażemy się ludźmi.
Taka postawa przynosi mi spokój umysłu i poczucie harmonii….
