from my book: OBSREVATIONS OF THE WORLD

One of my favorite places where I like to come back and where I like to meditate – it is from the photos above. This is the terrace of the Katowice Spodek. There is a beautiful open view to the south from there. Katowice is a city of wide breathing and space. And this blue sky above all …
I have many beautiful memories with this place. This is where we were at the concerts of JMJ (Jean Michel Jarre). It is here that many important world events took place. Here, many interesting people came to us from the distant world. This is where the roads of so many inhabitants of Silesia, Poland, Europe and the world cross.
In the past, because of its architecture, Katowice was called the Polish Chicago. The dynamic development of the city took place at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Katowice, however, developed both after the war and during communism (the Spodek itself also comes from this period). They are also developing very dynamically further. Here, something is constantly being built and constantly being created. Modern architecture is being built at a pace never seen before. In all this, however, Katowice maintains its momentum. Here you can feel space everywhere.
Rondo Ziętka in Katowice is one of the busiest points on the map of our country. So many people pass this way every day. The thought that it is simply impossible not to pass this way and more often than you might think – makes me happy. One of the webcams that I like to connect to is right in front of the hotel. I have about 10 such cameras in various places in Poland and around the world. One of them is here. I like to check what the weather is like and how the sun shines on the terrace. Yes, ….. I love the sun.
When I’m here – I like to stand on this terrace. Look at the fluid traffic and city life in peace. The terrace faces south – towards Ustroń and the Mediterranean Sea. At the back is our Siemianowice Śląskie, where I come from. So everything is in its place. I feel at home here.
PS
My advice – turn the phone horizontally – you’ll see this panoramic photo better.
And most importantly – stand in this place someday – you’ll find out what I’m talking about 🙂

KATOWICE – SPODEK – moje MIEJSCE

To taras Katowickiego Spodka. Katowice to miasto szerokiego oddechu i przestrzeni. I do tego to błękitne niebo ponad wszystkim….
Mam z tym miejscem wiele pięknych wspomnień. To tu byliśmy na koncertach JMJ (Jean Michel Jarre). To tu miało miejsce wiele ważnych, światowych wydarzeń. Tutaj przyjechało do nas z dalekiego świata – wielu ciekawych ludzi. Tutaj krzyżują się drogi tylu mieszkańców Śląska, Polski, Europy, Świata.
Kiedyś, z powodu architektury – Katowice nazywano Polskim Chicago.
