Does the fact that something didn’t work out mean it’s not worth playing the melody to the end?
No, …I don’t think so.
If you’ve ever played an instrument, you know how many times you’ve made a mistake at the very beginning of a piece, in the middle, …and sometimes at the very end (even though it was going so well).
And this after so many rehearsals, so many performances.
And you feel as if you were starting all over again.
As if you’d never learned anything at all.
But if you truly loved playing, you kept playing regardless.
And you listened to the notes you were playing.
Because even though the entire piece wasn’t perfect, certain parts of it were beautiful.
And you listened to those parts with delight.
And after the mistake, you knew you didn’t have to try so hard. And paradoxically, it was then that you were most relaxed
and truly enjoyed your playing – even if only in those small fragments.
And it was then that something you could only describe as a „sanctity” occurred.
It’s similar in life.
So keep playing your melody…
