from my book: OBSERVATIONS OF THE WORLD
You are what … what’s in the shower. And that’s what you’ve always been. What do you have then, besides yourself, besides what is in you? If you look at yourself and the world in this way, you see things that others will rather trip over than noticing them. Your hierarchy of values - is doing quite well.
Have you ever looked at it this way? We are what will remain – when fate takes away all that we physically possess. It will also take away our recognition and respect because someone can spread bad words against us. However, real value will remain.
So what is naked in the shower will stay. Build your life on it. This is the only true and solid foundation for what you have been working for over the years. This is your real capital. Nobody can take that away from you. It’s all you’ve learned, understood, and who you really are.
I looked at it that way a long time ago, in a hotel, just standing naked in the shower. I realized that although I seemingly have nothing at the moment, I actually have everything. On the one hand, it was an enlightenment, and on the other hand, it was only a confirmation of the rightness of the path that I always followed subconsciously.
Isn’t that why I liked swimming so much in the morning – back in high school? Yes – that’s why.
It was just me, water and sun. I did not compete with anyone. I was swimming for the pleasure of swimming. I was enjoying this joyful sun and just being alive.
We are born naked.
The way of life can be a beautiful adventure. and what we really have – we will take with us always and everywhere. Isn’t that wonderful?
